- Curricular Analytics (CA) is an open-source data analysis and visualization
toolkit of undergraduate degree maps that allows users to: - Quantify the complexity of curricula
- Simulate student progress under various scenarios
- Adjust degree plans to maximize the chances of students completing their degrees on
time
- UIC is one of 30 research universities participating in this project
- Project is led by the Association for Undergraduate Education at Research Universities (UERU)
- Supported by a $2M 3-year grant from the Ascendium Education Group

- All UIC undergraduate curricula (83) have been uploaded to Curricular
Analytics (April 2022) - CAP was presented at CAAD (May 2022)
- College CAAD members were given access to view the degree maps on the
Curricular Analytics Website (May-July 2022) - Assistant and Associate Dean were invited to a Q&A session about CAP (August 2022)
- Updates on CAP presented at CAAD (March 2024)
- Next Steps:
- Upload undergraduate curricula for catalog 2024-2025 (June 2024)
- Provide demographics and academic performance data
- Start using the tool at UIC for data-informed curriculum reforms
- Compare curricular structures within as well as between institutions
